Labor has vowed to allow all school children to travel for free on NSW's public transport system in an election pledge it estimates will cost the state about $44 million a year in foregone revenue.

Fare-free #publictransport would help low-income reach jobs and services

Free public transport would benefit everyone, especially those on low incomes.
IN THE RECENT SA State Liberal Budget, one of the key budget measures announced was a significant cut to bus services in South Australia.

But are the low numbers using bus services because they are not needed, or because the public transport system in South Australia isn’t accessible enough?

Helping poor people is just one of dozens of benefits of fare-free public transport. Actually the money saved on cars costs would save government much more than lost revenue. Noise, pollution, congestion, collisions, CO2, and many other problems could be reduced.
